Ity Shurtz is a senior lecturer (associate professor) in the Department of Economics at​ Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Dr. Shurtz earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011.

Dr. Shurtz's research focuses on various topics in the field of health economics with a particular emphasis on physician and patient decision-making. His work has been published in leading journals such as the Review of Economics and Statistics and the Journal of the European Economic Association and has received funding from the Israel Science Foundation, The European Commission, The Israel National Institute for Health Policy Research and The Israeli National Insurance.
